Oh, my! I hope it all grows back quickly -- looks like mostly grass that burned. It looks like we may have a rough summer, because we've had so little rain for the last couple of years.
it'll grow back nicely, now. good photo, Nelson.
@slmret - I think the forestry people did a controlled burn...
After all the floods of last spring and summer, Vermont is so dry right now, the grasses along the highway were set on fire by a random cigarette thrown (for shame on that smoker) out the window. YIKES!
That said, N E LS ON: this pic is beautiful. There. I said it.
heh.
I love it. I can never get this kind of photo to turn out so beautifully. I don't have a fancy, schmancy, sexy camera.
@saintvi - haha well it is still a little blurry in the front...so I went hazy to conceal it...and thank you
@SandraErickson - It is dry here...I saw a cigarette fire in New Jersey once...it was in the median on a major highway...it probably burnt 3 miles before they got to it...
And thank you...
Like this very much.
Love this photo! The color and contrast is magical.
I was on the fire squad at the missionary base where I went to high school. We did controlled burns in the evenings after supper. Whenever there was a grass fire, the siren would go off and we'd get to leave school and go fight it. I usually was a match-and-shovel guy, lighting backfires along the edge of a road or trail. The shovel was to put out the downwind side of the fire by whacking at the burning weeds.
