I want all my words to be clever
Just like Oscar WildeEvery phrase an aphorism
And everyone of them said with a smile
That runs crooked as I put a top hat onUntil someone says I am too smart for my own good
For crimes related to homophobia
Then I will spend years in prison
Aphorisms colored Gaol
Landing in a rich Parisian hotel only to wait out death
Saying clever things like
'I am dying beyond my means!'
or
'My wallpaper and I are fight a duel to death, one of us has to go!'People remember clever
They quote it for ages

They only gained clever status post mortem. I'd rather you continue living!
Geez Nelson. You are too clever for your own good.
This is one killer poem. I love it enough to quote it for ages.
And every one of them said with a smile,
"That runs crooked as I put a top hat on!"
or
And every one of them said with a smile,
"That runs crooked!" (as I put a top hat on)
or
And every one of them said with a smile
That runs crooked, "As I put a top hat on..."
