Cynioptism
If you have ever dared to do something new
Kissed without regret
Lost everything in one night
Begged for someone to help in choppy watersI am in your darkest dreams Dear Cynicism
And I still can't trust you Sir Optimism -
Worried
Worried about what you will become
That they will have to chase the phantom
A familiarity once known
But you are gone to be replaced by yourself
And
Yourself -
The Hotel, More Cusco and Lima
I found this hotel on Trip Advisor, it was pretty cheap and the proceeds went to fighting child poverty, which was a plus. It was also pretty and simple.
The view every time I woke up.
Look at all those water bottles.
Tea from cocoa leaves...sure it is a mild narcotic...but it was good...I found a couple more shots of Cusco:
A lot of news stands had people standing in front of them catching the news...this is the Peruvian equivalent of CNN.
A market, with underwear for sale
Taxi Driver asleep...a guy I met in Peru said that one of his drivers fell asleep at a stoplight. Another taxicab driver told me he was working 24 hours in a row before he was to be off for a day.
Mom playing with her kids
One more for the Peruvian Countryside
And as for Lima:
Metropolis
Sunset:
This was the first time I had seen the Pacific Ocean it dawned on me as I was taking pictures. I really only had one night in Lima, so not much for pictures sorry to say. -
Pikillaqta - Ollantaytambo Ruins
Pikillaqta was the only non-Incan ruin I saw, and it was practically tourist free, which was great. It functioned as a park more than a 'tourist' destination so one really got to see everything. Pikillaqta was built by the Wari tribe that pre-dates the Incan empire and where many believe that the Incans adapted some of their administrative technique. There is a better example than the one I saw of Wari life in Northern Peru.
From Pikillaqta Ollantaytambo was a fortress/temple at the 'halfway point' between Cusco and Machu Picchu, it was where Tupac Amuru (the first) battened down the hatches against the Spaniards.
From Ollantaytambo From Ollantaytambo From Ollantaytambo From Ollantaytambo From Ollantaytambo From Ollantaytambo From Ollantaytambo From Ollantaytambo From Ollantaytambo Right next to this picture of the Monolith was about 20 tourists. I didn't take a lot of pictures of the main temple area because tourists in pictures bother me. If you google Ollantaytambo you will find more & better pictures of this area. From Ollantaytambo
