Pigeon
The best courage is ignorance
Like a solitary pigeon
Watching a glorious sunset
Atop a skyscraperIf only then to pretend to know
What it means
The best courage is ignorance
Like a solitary pigeon
Watching a glorious sunset
Atop a skyscraper
If only then to pretend to know
What it means

hmm. interesting, Nelly. Ima ponder on it some.
@anvilsandedelweiss - I don't really know if the second stanza should be there...
I think the second stanza is what makes the poem.
I just can't get the idea out of my head of the pigeon sitting there all content with the sun setting in a blaze of glory and the peregrine falcon sweeping down silently and plucking it from the top of the bank building downtown...
I saw a flock of fat, happy pigeons sleeping on some lettering on a shop. I never saw a pigeon sleep before.
What does a pigeon mean?
This reminds me vaguely of Skyline Pigeon, one of Elton John's best and earliest.
